The Story So Far

We started off along the Old Kent Road, when as a nineteen year old baker I thought it would be a "good idea" to buy a bakers. The owner of the bakers shop had just died and his wife needed to get shot of it quickly, so I stepped in. Love a bargain. I run this for many years as Davies Bakeries and evolved into a wholesale bakery supplying many outlets around London. Then our row of shops were demolished so went solely into wholesale, but always missed baking for a shop with the instant feedback from customers, lovely bread baker, beautiful doughnuts etc.

Moving on 40 odd years, Pete's Bakery.down the Blue Bermondsey came on the market. The owner had not long died and his wife needed to get shot of it. Deja Vue or what?? So along with my Daughter Charlie who is the brains behind the business and is responsible for the shop we opened The Bakehouse Bermondsey SE16.

Deliveries

You can get anything you require delivered to your door through Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats or if you are short on time pre-order on 020 7231 1038 to pick up.

Wholesale Deliveries

Our all electric vehicles deliver locally to our wholesale partners all over London. Check out our Cake & Bread delivery website and place your order for the freshest, local baked goods.

Shop

Everything you see on display is baked fresh every day by us bakers working out the back, all the bread, doughnuts, delicious cakes, pies and pastries. Also home of the Bermondsey Bloomer a fantastic tasting sourdough bloomer which has quite a following of regular customers.

Takeaway

Our takeaway counter is filled with all your favourite fillings plus all day breakfast items. Everything is hand made onsite from egg mayonnaise to your coronation chicken. Every roll and sandwich is made right in front of you so you know you are getting the freshest possible and also you can be sure your allergen concerns are looked after.

Freshly ground coffee is served all day, with a choice of non-dairy milks available with Americano coffees.

Tables

Take the weight off and sit inside or out weather permitting. Pre-booked afternoon teas available, a lovely way to meet with friends old and new.
